Affordable Student Housing

Students around the city of Fort Collins are required to comply with the three-unrelated ordinance that disallows more than three unrelated tenants to live together in a single dwelling. One option available to tenants and landlords to offer housing to more than three tenants is a boarding house permit.

A boarding house permit allows for more tenants given the house meets rental code, square footage, and available parking. Neighborhoods in Fort Collins need to be zoned correctly to allow  for boarding house permits by landlords.

ASCSU is currently assessing these zoning ordinances and will be, through the ASCSU Senate and the Department of Community Affairs, revisions to the zoning ordinances to allow for the application of boarding house permits in neighborhoods around CSU.
